WHY ARE WE FAT?
Have you ever wondered why some people can eat whatever they wanted and remain thin while others struggle with weight gain by just eating the simplest things? Well our weight is influenced by both our genetic makeup and other important environmental factors for example, deciding on the types of foods you choose to eat, your metabolism, your body fat decomposition, and how well you deal with stress and triggers are all contributors. According to the Harvard Health Publication, research shows that the likelihood for some individuals to become overweight is 25% effected by their genes.
Weight gain is equal to the number of calories consumed (IN) vs number of calories burned (OUT). We spend a lot time consuming calories but don’t burn enough energy (via physical activities) at all. The 21 Day Shrink Me challenge is a safe and effective way to use up those stored energy and burn fat from caloric reserves.
SOME ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS TO PUT INTO CONSIDERATION: These are outside factors that contributes to being overweight; the driving force behind being overweight or obese.
- Sugar consumption has increased (Refined sugar is dangerous to our health).
- We are eating larger portions from fast food restaurants.
- We are eating more and more packaged foods.
- We are eating in front of the television, tablets, social media more often than before.
- We are frequently snacking on junk food.
- We don’t burn enough calories working out to compensate for a bad diet.
- We are drinking more calories from sugary drinks like sodas, coffee, bottle fruit juices.
- People gain a lot of weight during the holidays and other special occasions and never get rid of it.
- We think we can balance a bad diet by exercising and it never works.
- Stress and triggers.
- Advertisements and commercials.
- In-utero exposures or "fetal programming." in babies.
Did you know that babies born to mothers with diabetes are most likely to become overweight or suffer from obesity? This an example of in-utero exopsure as well, if a mother smoked cigarette throughout her pregnancy, that will also increase the chances that child becoming overweight or obese in their adult years.
The caloric equation is, if we eat a healthy balanced diet and burn all those calories eaten within a day and as well when we are resting, we will maintain our weight. In fact, will never fall in the overweight or underweight bracket. The problem is that we often overeat and don’t exercise which is the main reason why more than 50% of us are in the overweight or obese category. We have excess calories/energy being stored in our bodies as fat that isn't being used up at all and yet we continue to add more of that energy eating highly processed foods. If you commit to my challenge, you will see how effortlessly the weight will come off by just following the program. My goal is to get healthy the smart way not the hard way, by dealing with stored fat first.
Does your weight depends on your genetic makeup? The factors inside you that contributes to weight gain and staying overweight.
Here are some high genetic factors to consider:
- ARE ONE OR BOTH PARENTS OVERWEIGHT OR OBESE?
IS IT DIFFICULT TO LOSE WEIGHT EVEN IF YOU EXERCISE AND EAT A BALANCED DIET?
HAVE YOU BEEN OVERWEIGHT FOR ALMOST YOUR ENTIRE LIFE?
Here are some low genetic factors to consider:
- ARE YOU CURRENTLY OVERWEIGHT BUT CAN LOSE WEIGHT IF YOU STILL TO A DIET AND EXERCISE PROGRAM?
- CAN YOU INDULGE EVERY SO OFTEN WITHOUT A FEW POUNDS HEAVIER?
- IS IT EASY TO LOSE WEIGHT ON YOUR OWN?
Understanding these major contributors and their importance is why at Juice Wealthy, we are able to create a program that beats the odds. The SHRINK ME challenge allows you to lose weight despite of your genetic build up and other environmental factors. You are able to jump start weight loss in a way no other program can. We are eliminating processed foods all together and with a caloric deficit, focusing on burning stored fat. Back in the time of our ancestors and the “Hunter and Gatherer” era, they used stored up energy to hunt and gather their food to eat. The problem is in today's society is we don't hunt, the food is right there always available.
Studies shows that people with the susceptibility to obesity may not be able to lose weight with an ordinary form of diet and exercise. Also stated by the Harvard Health Publication, "individuals with a very strong genetic predisposition, sheer willpower is ineffective in counteracting their tendency to be overweight and that these individuals can only maintain weight loss under supervision."
So although many of us are able to get healthy by ourselves; some of us need that guided support to stay motivated, keep accountable and to succeed at weight loss and to get healthy. In order to develop programs that work, I had to do some research to learn about the problem I was trying to solve which is to help individuals who struggle with being overweight and obese to get healthy again and be excited about life. Even though genetics makes up 25% of why we are overweight, the leading factors are environmental which are based on our day by day choices.
